I am by no means a garden expert but I’m sure learning. This past year I have kept more plants alive than all my other years combined though. How? A little research, a little more care, and a few tips and tricks I’m picking up from people with green thumbs. This “How to Make Homemade Miracle Grow” recipe actually comes from my tailor. Every time I go there I get my clothes tailored and leave with a homemade recipe or remedy.
While Miracle Grow works, it is often filled with unnecessary fillers and potentially harmful preservatives for our pets or kids. Also, it can become costly. This Homemade Miracle Grow Recipe, however, is inexpensive, safe for pets, and can be mixed up in seconds. Best of all? It can bring dying plants back to life and make OK plants thrive!

How To Make Homemade Miracle Grow
What You Will Need for Homemade Miracle Grow
- 1 Gallon of Water
- a TBS Epsom Salt
- 1 TBS Baking Soda
- 1/2 tsp ammonia
How to Make Homemade Miracle Grow
1.) Simply mix all the ingredients together in a mug or water gallon
2.) Water as you usually would. (I usually water my indoor plants every week in the summer and every other week in the winter.)
3.) Watch your plants thrive!
How Does this Work?
Let’s talk about each ingredient and why it will help your plants.
Ammonia – Ammonia is an amazing nutrient for plants because it contains both nitrogen and hydrogen.
Epsom Salt – Epsom Salt adds magnesium and sulfur to your plant which helps multiply the nutrients in your soil.
Baking Soda – Baking Soda acts as a fungicide and helps remove any mildew. I know my indoor plants are prone to get mildew so this is a super great trick.
BONUS TIP: Next time you make scrambled eggs, add a few crushed up eggshells to your plants for added calcium.

Perfectly timed post! I’ve been eyeballing new plants for our home, but I’m hesitant because a) I have a brown thumb and b) we have small children and a curious cat who I don’t want to expose to chemicals. Very simple solution.
Perfect. Good luck!
This is a dream come true finding this recipe – okay, that may sound silly but I hate purchasing the store, chemically stuff so definitely looking forward to making my own! I really appreciate that you included why the ingredients are chosen and how they will help the plant.

Hi, thank you for this diy miracle grow. Just have a question as to when or how many times to use on a majesty palm.
I would do once a month in the spring and early summer. Just make sure not to give it in winter!
Is this good to use for my outdoor flowers?
yes!
