The last couple of years I’ve noticed something shocking as I look into the mirror. What? Is that? Can it be …a wrinkle? I was warned this would happen. I was told it was inevitable. While I can’t go back and start wearing moisturizer and eye cream I can look for products that help reverse and diminish those pesky lines. And that’s exactly what I was doing when I stumbled upon the many benefits of grape seed oil.
(This post probably contains affiliate links. Read my full disclosure here.)
Grape seed oil is rich in an ingredient called oligomeric proanthocyanidins (OPC). The name is not important but what it does is. OPC removes free radicals and promotes the restoration of collagen within the cells. After prolonged use, your skin should look firmer and fresher.
Grapeseed Oil Benefits

Since using this oil I’ve noticed several things happen.
1. My skin is clearer. Grape seed oil does not clog pores and is full of nutrients your skin craves.
2. My “fine lines” (nothing fine about them) appear smoother.
I also use the oil at night to get the greatest benefit because that’s when your body heals itself. Beauty sleep is real. And since it’s a light oil grapeseed oil will also absorb into your skin quickly, leaving no greasy residue.
The beauty industry knows how powerful grape seed oil is too. A $55 1oz bottle of overnight recovery oil from Caudalie is made up of mostly grapeseed oil, jojoba oil and rose essential oil.
You could pay that. Or you could buy your own 16oz grapeseed oil from Amazon for $8 and Jojoba oil for $10 and reap the same benefits.
How To Use Grapeseed Oil for Its Benefits
- As I briefly mentioned above, you can use it as a light moisturizer after washing your face. It’s non-greasy and just attacks those wrinkles at night.
- You could also use in your Oil Cleaning Routine. Essentially, it’s “washing” your face with oil to remove makeup, provide moisture, and get deep into the pores. I wrote about it extensively in my How to Wash Your Face with Oil post so check it out!
Grape seed oil is inexpensive, contains no chemicals and is effective. Try it out and after you do, come back and let me know what you think in the comments below!

OMG! I need to try this! I think pregnancies have done a number on my skin, and this might help with that -fingers crossed
Yes it has so many benefits! Not sure if you have stretch marks but I hear it is good for that as well.
I just recently started using oils for skin care and I won’t go back! I’ve started with rosehip oil, but know of all the benefits of grapeseed, so I may just have to invest in some!
Jackie, I need to get some rosehip myself. I keep hearing good things.
Think I will be purchasing my own grape seed oil and appreciate all the tips on how to put it to good use.
I have not tried grape seed oil, but I love jojoba and rosehip! I will try it soon!
Jojoba oil is amazing too! Love my oils.
I’ve been a fan of grapeseed oil for a number of years, I regularly use it as a base for essential oils as well as on it’s own
I haven’t tried the oil on my face before, but I love to put it on after my shower before bed. It is one of the best ways I keep my skin hydrated during the winter!
Oh! I’ve never used it on my body. I will have to try that too.
Thank you for sharing this! I’ve never used any kind of oil for my face because I’ve always been afraid of clogging my pores. I might be ready to give it a try now. I’ll have to go and put this in my Amazon cart. Thanks!
Do do! It helps break-outs, not create them!
What!? That’s awesome! I actually have some grapeseed oil that I was putting in my water at one time… I haven’t used it in a while, but I’ll have to pull it out again for my face! :) Thanks for the tip!
Oh! You must have been using an edible version. I’ve never tried that but will look into it.
This is great, I hadn’t heard of the benefits of grape seed oil yet. Love your money-saving Amazon tip too!
We use coconut oil and almond oil, but haven’t tried grapeseed! Now, I’m anxious to try it! =)
I’ve used cleansing oils for years, but never grapeseed. It’s now on my Amazon shopping list. Thank you!
I’ve heard great things but haven’t tried…guess I finally need to pull the trigger and pick some up!
Coming Up Roses
This is really interesting! We’ve actually been using grapeseed oil for cooking lately and it has so many health benefits! I’ll have to give it a go in the beauty world! :)
Yes it’s great for both!
I for sure will be trying this out!!!
This is very cool. I take collagen internally but I didn’t know that there were oils that would increase collagen from the outside in. Nice! I love oils now that I’m over 40. they feel so nice on my skin. :-)
I’ve recently heard about taking collagen internally. I’d love to know how that works!
Grapeseed oil is great for circulation. I use it as a carrier when I mix up certain essential oil blends :)
I’ve never considered using grape seed oil! It’s nice to know about it’s skin benefits. I’ve mainly been using coconut oil and grapeseed oil
Ooooh I never knew it was so beneficial for your skin. i always used it to cook with. I must look into this. xx
Absolutely! Apparently I need to look into cooking with it. haha
Peeked over here from modernlyoldfashioned.com after you commented on my post. This is so perfect- I’m in the final months of my 20’s and my skin is needing some attention. I am definitely going to try this! Thank you!
Melissa – woohoo! And thanks for visiting :)
What I love most about blogs is getting information that I would have never known otherwise. I had no idea of the benifits of grape seed oil. Thanks for sharing
Very welcome! That’s why i love visiting other people’s blogs so much too.
grape seed and jojoba oils are so good for your skin. i’m a fan of using both in my massage therapy practice for my clients PLUS my hands feel great!
Learned a lot. I wonder if you can make it from scratch like you can with other herbs.
Hm i’ll have to look into that but it’s relatively cheap to buy so not sure it’s worth it?
I currently use coconut oil and jojoba oil on my skin. I tried grape seed oil years ago, but not on my face. When I use up my jojoba oil, I am going to try some!
I like it so much more than coconut oil!
Oh I had no idea! I may have to look into this
I am always looking for new and natural ways to to help my skin. Never heard of using grape seed oil for this but am willing to give it a try.
Awesome, I’ll have to try this because I love natural remedies, and am already getting wrinkles at 27.
I noticed ones early on from all my time in the sun. Sigh.
I love using different oils on my skin for the benefits. I am learning new ones every day. Grape oil is a new one for me. Thank you for sharing. I learned something new today.
Very welcome, Sandy. I hope you get to try it!
I need to look into this. I have been trying to come up with a new skin care regiment now that I am almost 33… I’m just not happy with how my skin looks anymore.
I’m telling ya, natural is the way to go! :)
The older I get, the more I can appreciate oils for my skin. I use a few different ones, but now I need to get grapeseed! Do you mix it with jojoba oil?
I just it straight for convenience but you could definitely get more benefits out of mixing with Jojoba oil and even essential oils.
This sounds so good! Thanks for the tip!
Thank you for telling me about this! I have ONE tiny wrinkle I just noticed a few weeks ago, I upped my water intake which seems to be helping but I was also wanting to try a moisturizer. I may try grapeseed oil instead!
Woohoo! I bet the water coupled with grape seed will do even better :)
I had no idea grape seed oil could do these things. I use almond oil to moisturize and keep my skin firm, and I wrote a post about my experience with it last year. But I’m so curious how this will compare. I’ll have to check it out! :-)
I love both! But prefer grape seed for acne!
Wow! I love Love love Now Solution Products! :)
I didn’t know grape seed oil could do all those things– Thanks for sharing. :)
Grapeseed oil is one of my favorite oils to cook with. Interesting to know about the skin applications – now I can justify getting it all over my face and arms when I’m making a mess in the kitchen. I’ve found the cheapest bottles at Trader Joe’s, if you have one nearby.
I do! But I think the oil for your face is different than the one you cook with.
Oooh! I can’t wait to try this oil. I am a big fan of natural products. Is it good for sensitive skin? Thanks for this post!
Yes, it is the best for sensitive skin!
I had never heard of this before! I’m definitely going to give it a try!
I use sunflower oil, but I’m open to try other products. Grape seed sounds promising.
Thanks for letting me know. :D
I’ve heard great things about sunflower oil too.
I have recently become aware of the grape seeds benefits! This healthy ingredient is amazing, Sarah!
Neat! I will definitely have to try this!
MY MOST FAVOURITE OIL….NOT ONLY AS A NIGHT SERUM BUT A GREAT EYE AND MAKEUP REMOVER…
