I’ve been making my own face cleanser for quite some time; the fun part now is switching up the scents and what I want my face wash to do. Lately, I’ve been into roses and how good it is for my skin, which is why I’m bringing you this DIY Rose and Almond Face Cleanser today.
Like many women, I just love the smell so that’s a great reason to make a rose face wash right there. Added to that, rose essential oil can help lift our mood – and wrinkles! And because it’s a bactericide it makes for a great astringent and clear skin.

DIY Rose & Almond Face Cleanser
Note: Rose essential oil can be pricey. Roses don’t produce a lot of oil it takes thousand of pounds of petals to make one ounce of this precious oil. I just like to think it makes it that more special.

What You’ll Need:
- ¼ cup Doctor Bronner’s Rose Liquid Castile soap
- 2 tsp glycerin
- ½ cup distilled or purified water
- 2 tsp almond oil
- 5 drops rose essential oil (or another oil of choice)
- 2 tsp pure aloe vera
- Foaming pump bottle
Extra Tip: Just by changing the castile soap and essential oil, you can come up with an infinite number of different face washes!
STEPS To Make DIY Face Cleanser
1.) Combine all the ingredients but soap in a blender, magic bullet or even just a measuring cup and fork. (Trust me, don’t put the soap in, unless you want bubbles everywhere.)
2.) If you’re going to use essential oils make sure you use enough that you can smell it over Dr. Bronner’s soap because it’s so strong. Because we’re using rose everything this time it doesn’t much matter, but it will with other soap scents. Essential oils also increase your soap’s shelf life too, though.
3.) Add mixture to foam bottle and then add the castile soap to it. Gently stir or shake.
I love this soap! It cuts through my makeup and leaves my face feeling clean and moisturized. I can guarantee you will love it too.
And after you’re done washing your face, don’t forget to use a good toner. Here’s everything you need to know about toners. And follow up with a natural moisturizer like this DIY Face lotion for sensitive skin OR Washed Ghee for Beautiful Skin.
Girl, I am so happy to have found your blog. Each post I read is better than the last, and they are all good! This would be great, I love to know what I’m putting on my skin, and if rose oil can also help with wrinkles then I am sold! Thanks for sharing! I’m pinning and stumbling so others can use this recipe too!
Thank you so much!
This sounds like a perfect face cleanser! I have such sensitive skin and sometimes oily and then dry, really annoying, so homemade would be awesome. I live in the south of spain and can’t really find a lot of the ingredients so I end up going to the pharmacy to get something as natural as possible. I’d love to try this one though!
Katrin, are you able to order some of these items online? Might make it easier. I think you will love this face wash!
Sarah – I’m just so impressed with all your natural beauty tips. Love how simple they are to make. Such great DIYs! Pinning!!!
They are “pretty simple” as the saying goes. 🙂
This sounds wonderful! If I am not using the OCM, I typically use DR. Bronners in Lavender or Peppermint [depending on what time of the day it is]. But this sounds a little more like pampering! Do you have to shake it up each time you use it, since it contains oils and water?
Since I use a foam pump I actually don’t have to shake it up. Can’t hurt though!
Never knew about this! seems like a great DIY face wash, gotta try it out. thanks for sharing xo
Neha – it’s pretty darn simple too!
Always love all your natural cleansers for body and face. I think I have everything on hand to make this.
Thanks, Candy!
Oh I like a nice cleanser for my face and I love that it has almond in it. I’d be the dummy and actually put the soap in not knowing and then I’d have a temper about it ha ha. Thanks
Your post came at the perfect time. I’m tired of all the harsh stuff I’ve been putting on my face. Thank you.
Same! That’s why I had to come up with my own.

Oh my goodness I love rose everything!
What is the shelf life? I would love to make as gifts!
I’d say a month or two should be safe. Go by the smell of it! it will also last longer in the fridge.
